At the dawn of the twentieth century, France played a critical role in the preservation and transmission of modal languages inherited from Greek and medieval musics, but also in the development and enrichment of these languages. From both a theoretical and analytical angle, this conference aims to take stock of the flourishing of modal music in France at that time.
